TDJ Carlo Carcano

Fernando Sanchez y Ariadna Naveira

Ariadna Naveira and Fernando Sanchez are one of the most admired couples in contemporary tango. Their style is described as soft, fluid, and moving: the music seems to take shape through rounded, velvety movements free of exaggeration. Freshness, spontaneity, and strong musicality — especially Fernando’s rhythm combined with Ariadna’s elegance — make their tango natural and deeply expressive. Ariadna, raised with tango from childhood in the Naveira–Besio family, has been dancing with Fernando since 2009, after their first collaborations in 2007–2008. They debuted together at Café Tortoni and later in the iconic milongas of Buenos Aires, quickly gaining international recognition. Soon they were invited to prestigious festivals, visited over 40 countries, created a successful stage production (“La Evasión – sueño o realidad”), and toured across several continents. Beyond performing, they are highly regarded as teachers. They developed seminars based on a structural and functional approach to dance, influencing hundreds of couples and winning the admiration of both audiences and colleagues. Their artistic exploration avoids stereotypes and formalism, focusing instead on the true essence of tango. For many, Ariadna and Fernando fully embody what tango is.
